I remember raising my hand on the first lecture of Online Journalism when asked who was thinking that Twitter was useless for a journalist. A few weeks later, I have to admit that I was wrong. Online journalism has been a very enlightening module to me.
I have learnt about different aspects of Journalism that I did not think of. I am not a Facebook user and I did not used to tweet. The module made me discover blogging and its possibilities, the way to write online, the different ways to tell stories by using multimedia tools, linking and social media. I have realised how important blogging or social media can be to market yourself as a journalist. I have learnt how to establish my presence online.
Moreover, the course and the events in the Arab world have highlighted the importance of Twitter. I use Twitter to get information about upcoming events, contacts and to follow certain persons. I hope as well to publish on it in the near future.
Overall, I enjoyed the module and discovered numerous things that I never really had thought about previously.
